In The Name of Love
Irene thought that she will never love again. After so many admirations and love who have actually failed, she gave up! Failed! All her life she became a big failure! Meaning, no one ever became his boyfriend. Sad isn’t it. And when she feels that she’s a failure, she always utter the same question, “Why can’t I be happy in terms of love?”
Now, she’s in second year of college; it was the first day of school. She was walking along the corridor making her way to her classroom when suddenly a guy accidentally bumped her. All the books she was carrying fell. She has to pick them up but that guy who bumped her run with a naughty smile on his face without saying sorry. After picking up those books, she walked very fast heading to their classroom with a very bad face. She promised to herself that when she sees that guy again, he has to ask forgiveness for what she has done.
It was 8:30 a.m. the bell rang. All the students in the university went rushing to their corresponding classroom. It was the first day of meeting their instructors. In Irene’s classroom, all the seats were taken except one beside her. After three minutes, a guy seated beside her. She barely knew this guy. But when the guy finally faced her, she recognized him. It was the guy who bumped her! At last she can make him ask sorry. But wait! Now, Irene is too busy looking at this man’s face. He was so handsome! The day has passed and she didn’t even say a thing to that man! But she had the time to find out what’s his name. His name was Mitchelle Mroue. A transferee from the States.
Second day of school… she was excited to go to school. As the day starts in school, a new friend introduced her to Mitchelle. Now, her problem was how can she be close to him? But the destiny was nice to her. They became seatmates the whole day. But this didn’t make her happy because everytime they talked, Mitchelle teases her. Everyday that God made was like hell for her.
Then one day came, when this man finally asked for forgiveness from Irene. It was so sincere and true. And eventually Irene accepted it. From that day on, they become close friends. Best of friends. And the amazing thing was from the time they became friends, her feelings for Mitchelle vanished. She now thought of him as a brother. A brother who needs attention because he is living alone. His parents are in States working for him. The good thing is that he never failed his parents in terms of academic stuffs. Irene did everything for him. She cleaned his place, ironed his clothes. She even does his laundry sometimes. She even cooked for him. But these things didn’t matter to them. They even sleep together, ate together, hang out together. But these things didn’t seem to have meaning to them.
Time came that Mitchelle introduced Patricia to Irene. His girlfriend. Irene was totally shocked! She thought she knew everything about this man… she was wrong. But what can she do? All she has to do know is to accept this lady as her best friend’s girlfriend.
Many days have passed. Irene and Patricia became friends. But Irene’s feeling for this lady was weird. The first time they were introduced to each other, she can’t sleep good enough every night.
On the couple’s monthsary, she decided to leave them first alone to find out what’s with her. After three weeks, she found out that she was in love with this guy. And she was sure about it. She was jealous of the attention Mitchelle was giving to Patricia.
On the second semester, Mitchelle approached Irene. He was asking if there was problem between them because she didn’t show up for three weeks. But she lied. She told him that it was a family matter. From that day, they started to hang out together just like before.
Three months passed by, and it was Patricia and Mitchelle’s 6th month anniversary. But the day before their monthsary, Mitchelle came to Irene telling her that he is no longer happy with his relationship with Patricia. But Irene tells him nothing. She remained silent for a minute until Mitchelle told her that he was in love with her! In that part, Irene shouted, “No! It can’t be.” She was thinking of Patricia. She knew that Patricia was still in love with him. But the fact was still there. That she is also in love with this guy who just proposed to her. But they can’t be together. It is not right to hurt people just for them to be happy. They end up the conversation that they will not tell anybody about this and that he is not going to break up with Patricia.
One Sunday morning, Patricia came to Mitchelle’s place and she saw Irene and Mitchelle playing with the bubles while doing the laundry. They were too happy to notice her. While she was hiding in the door, she realized that she never makes Mitchelle this happy. After a few minutes, she showed up to them. They spent the day together. It was time to go home and they decided that they were going home together (Patricia and Irene). Along the way, they had conversation that lead between the three of them. Patricia asked Irene if she had feelings for her boyfriend. Irene cannot lie. She admitted it. But unexpectedly, Patricia didn’t get mad at her. Instead, she decided to break up with Mitchelle. Because according to her, she loves Mitchelle very much that she cannot afford to see him lonely with her knowing that he can be happy with someone else.
On that very night, after Patricia drive Irene o her place, she drove back to Mitchelle’s place. She broke up with him. And finally, Mitchelle told him the whole story between Irene and him. Patricia said that they should be happy. And she told him that she was leaving for good. Mitchelle offered her friendship but she resisted because she knew bthat she cannot get over him if they still have communication. After few hours, Patricia decided to go home.
Days after the broke up, Mitchelle and Irene met and patched up things between them. Finally and eventually, they found their true love! The true love that they waited for so long. And Irene never imagined that in the name of love, one will sacrifice for their happiness.
“Love really comes when you least expected it!”
